Richard and Christine Estey have been promoted to 2nd Lieutenant, respectively, according to 1st Lt Lucien Thresher, Commander of the Burlington Senior Squadron (VT-002). Their respective promotions recognize their accomplishments, time in service, and enduring commitment to the Squadron and CAP.
“Lts Christine and Richard Estey bring successful and relevant backgrounds that have enhanced our emergency services missions, as well as our support for the greater Vermont community,” said Lt Thresher. “We are grateful for their consistent and valuable contributions.”
2nd Lt. Richard “Rick” Estey, who also serves as Assistant Director of Logistics for the Vermont Wing and the Squadron, joined CAP in 1977, and earned his private pilot’s license in 1982. He had served in various positions in the Burlington Senior Squadron and the Vermont Wing until 1983 when life and career demands led to a nearly 40-year hiatus. An encounter with a CAP recruiting display at a recent Vermont Air National Guard (VTANG) open house rekindled his interest. Lt Estey is a 1981 graduate of UVM with a degree in Business Administration and was most recently a partner on a family dairy farm in Bristol, Vt until his retirement in 2017.
Lt Christine Estey is an alumnus of the University of Vermont’s School of Natural Resources. Like her husband, she had been an active member in Burlington Senior Squadron from 1977 through 1983. She has rejoined the Vermont Wing following a “re-introduction” to CAP at a recent VTANG Open House.
“I continue to enjoy volunteering for this very worthwhile organization, and I find the social aspect appealing,” noted Lt Estey.
