The Aviation History Educational Center located at the Abraham Lincoln Capital Airport has invited the Advanced Spaceflight Laboratory to come to Springfield on Saturday October 15 and can be explored from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 16 by teachers and any students they may wish to bring. This futuristic research spacecraft flight simulator represents one of the latest innovations in K-12 math and science instruction.
The spaceflight lab allows students to play the roles of scientists and engineers in Star Trek-like frontier adventures where successful outcomes depend on students solving math and science problems. These adventures can even include live video interactions with subject specialists at places like the University of Arizona’s Biosphere 2 Earth systems research facility
The goal of the Advanced Spaceflight Laboratory is to inspire students to study and learn so they can pursue careers in science technology, engineering and math; those STEM frontiers where their undiscovered opportunities lie.
While at the airport we also invite the teachers to view our Aviation Hall of Fame wall located next to Subway.
To participate and explore the Spaceflight Laboratory on Saturday, enter the airport’s main entrance at Capital Airport Drive and follow the signs with arrows.
