Jacobs Honored for Making Hawaii Airports Safer

Martinez Jacobs is being honored by the Hawaii State Chapter of the American Heart Association and the Hawaii Department of Transportation for his efforts to get defibrillators installed at Hawaii’s airports.
Jacobs, the Airport Fire Fighting Staff Officer for the Hawaii Airports Division of the Hawaii Department of Transportation, has seen over thirty years of experience at the Honolulu International Airport.
There are currently over 120 automatic defibrillators at 13 airports on six islands. The devices can monitor for deadly irregular heartbeats and shock the heart back to a normal rhythm. Over 1,200 state transportation employees are trained to use defibrillators.
Jacobs is responsible for the overall management and supervision of the statewide Airports Division Fire Programs. Kim Stevens

Kim Stevens is the publisher of State Aviation Journal, which he founded in 2009. A longtime commercial-rated pilot, he was introduced to state aviation in 1992 as Director of the Nebraska Department of Aeronautics, later serving as Deputy Division Director for the Arizona Department of Transportation's Aeronautics Division. From 2013 to 2018, he was Director of Communications and Operations for the National Association of State Aviation Officials (NASAO) in Washington, D.C. Relocating to North Carolina, Kim worked for the Raleigh-Durham International Airport for two years and now concentrates solely on the Journal. Prior to his aviation career, Kim spent a decade in the newspaper and magazine business.
