During February, 1,053,817 passengers traveled through Southwest Florida International Airport in Fort Myers, Fla., an increase of 11.4 percent compared to February 2017. Year-to-date, passenger traffic is up 9.8 percent from the same period last year.
“I am pleased to report that for the first time in our 35-year history, we had more than 1 million passengers travel through Southwest Florida International Airport in the month of February,” said Jeff Mulder, A.A.E., executive director of the Lee County Port Authority.
The traffic leader in February was Southwest Airlines with 201,448 passengers traveling to and from Fort Myers. Rounding out the top five airlines were Delta Air Lines (188,229), American (138,916), Spirit (132,867) and JetBlue (115,374).
Southwest Florida International Airport had 9,190 aircraft operations, an increase of 7 percent compared to February 2017. Page Field saw 8,451 operations, a 16.7 percent decrease from February 2017. In addition, more than 2.6 million pounds of air freight moved through Southwest Florida International Airport in February 2018.
