MIA Says Benvenuta to ITA Airways

Miami-Dade County and ITA Airways officials hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony at Miami International Airport on March 1 to celebrate the launch of Rome-Miami service by the new national airline of Italy.

ITA Airways is beginning the new service with three weekly roundtrip flights, which will grow to five weekly flights in April and then increase to daily flights in June.   ITA Airways is totally owned by the Italian Ministry of Economy and Finance and has been active since November 2020.

Italy was one of MIA’s top 20 international markets before the pandemic, generating nearly 400,000 total passengers in 2019. Italy is not currently served by any other airline at MIA.

“We look forward to once again providing our passengers direct flights to Italy because of ITA Airways’ new Miami service,” said Ralph Cutié, MIA Director and CEO. “MIA continues to lead the way for international travel to Florida, and the addition of ITA Airways now brings back nonstop service from one of our most popular international markets.”
