Florida’s Lee County Port Authority Announces New General Aviation Director

Scott C. Sheets has been named the director of general aviation at Page Field (FMY) in Fort Myers, Fla. He will be responsible for managing a staff of 34 professionals and planning, directing and coordinating the day-to-day operations of the airport, including Base Operations at Page Field. Sheets will also have oversight on all construction and planning projects, lease and contract administration and represent Page Field with governmental agencies, private enterprise and the community.

Sheets joined the Lee County Port Authority in April 1999 as a line service agent at Page Field and soon after became a line service supervisor, where he provided ground handling support, customer care and aircraft fueling services. In February 2006, he was promoted to manager of general aviation and in 2011 to senior manager of general aviation, directing the general aviation operations and day-to-day business activities at Page Field, as well as managing the airfield and maintenance department. In February 2013, Sheets became the senior manager of maintenance and operations at Page Field and was responsible for all airport operations and maintenance activities, overseeing building and airfield construction projects and maintaining the operating and capital expenditures budgets.

Sheets is an Airport Certified Employee (ACE) in airport operations from the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE) and is a member of the Southeast Chapter of AAAE. He is also a member of the Florida Airports Council (FAC) and serves on its General Aviation, Facilities and Operations Committee.
