RTCA, Inc. has announced the establishment of a new special committee on Counter-Unmanned Aerial Systems (C-UAS). This new committee of industry and government experts is being established to support the safe and harmonized implementation of C-UAS into the national airspace system.
The scope of this activity will be focused on developing consensus documents that detail detection and mitigation performance standards for non-cooperative targets, their interoperability, and interfaces with stakeholders in the C-UAS domain such as airports, air navigation service providers, surveillance systems manufacturers, law enforcement, pilots, etc. This new RTCA committee with operate jointly and in cooperation with a similar committee established the European standards organization, EUROCAE.
“I am pleased to be partnering with our colleagues at EUROCAE in setting up this new special committee”, said Terry McVenes, President and CEO of RTCA. “To the greatest extent possible, we will leverage work already being accomplished by the Federal Aviation Administration and the Department of Homeland Security to develop a harmonized world-wide standard for C-UAS.”
The kickoff meeting for this joint RTCA/EUROCAE effort is scheduled for December 12, 2019 in Paris.
