Santa Makes Early Visit to Arizona Airport

Santa Clause made an early visit to Phoenix, Arizona recently arriving at Deer Valley airport in a helicopter operated by the Phoenix Police Department. This was one of three visits Ole Saint Nick made to the busy general aviation airport located in

North Phoenix. This is the third year that Deer Valley Airport Restaurant owner Voula Papamatheakis has hosted Santa. Last year, the visit drew 200 children in one day. That’s why the restaurant invited him back for three days this year.

Kim Stevens is the publisher of State Aviation Journal, which he founded in 2009. A longtime commercial-rated pilot, he was introduced to state aviation in 1992 as Director of the Nebraska Department of Aeronautics, later serving as Deputy Division Director for the Arizona Department of Transportation's Aeronautics Division.
