Keith Bagley, president of Hartzell Engine Technologies (HET), has announced that the company has held the official ground breaking of the 10,000 square foot addition to its headquarters in Montgomery, Alabama. When completed, the expansion will increase the total size of the HET campus to 86,000 square feet.
“Hartzell Engine Technologies came to Montgomery in 2010 and since then we’ve grown to feel like this is our home. Last year, we purchased our current facility and today we are so very excited and proud to celebrate the furthering of our commitment to the city of Montgomery, our employees and to all of general aviation,” Bagley said. “This ground breaking is also rock solid proof of our parent company, Tailwind Technologies’ steadfast commitment to grow this business and be an integral part of the future of general, business and military aviation.”
Bagley explained that both business growth and significant forthcoming new product introductions require the additional floor space. Rather than just adding on to the current production area, one of the primary goals behind the company’s 10,000 square foot facility expansion and upgrade is to allow the consolidation of its product engineering, quality, planning and purchasing groups to create a more collaborative work environment.
“The current floor plan has engineering at the back of the building and separated office spaces among the perimeter of the production area for quality, planning and purchasing, with the remaining office functions located at the front of the building,” he said. “This is extremely inefficient to everyone involved. Once the upgrade is completed, our teams will be co-located in a modern, open floor plan area. It may seem like a small thing, but the ability to easily collaborate will make a huge impact on our flow of information and will our teams to be more efficient throughout our entire operation.”
