NASAO SELECTS STEVENS AS DIRECTOR OF MEMBER RELATIONS AND COMMUNICATIONS

The National Association of State Aviation Officials (NASAO) has announced that Kim Stevens has joined the staff as Director of Member Relations and Communications.

Stevens, publisher of the State Aviation Journal, is no stranger to NASAO. He has spent more than 30 years in aviation, fifteen years specifically with state aviation as the director of the Nebraska Department of Aeronautics and Deputy Director for the Aeronautics Division of the Arizona Department of Transportation.

Henry Ogrodzinski, NASAO President and CEO said that Stevens brings an in-depth experience to his post. "I am elated that Kim has accepted our offer and is moving to DC to join the NASAO team.”

Stevens’ responsibilities will include the writing and editing of the weekly electronic newsletter NASAO Briefs and for issuing NASAO press releases. He will also work with NASAO members on a daily basis as well as other associations, governmental agencies and the public.

Ogrodzinski said that Stevens is eminently qualified for this challenge as he is already familiar with most of the association’s policies and programs and is personally acquainted with most of NASAO’s active members.

Stevens, a commercial rated pilot, began his new duties last week. "I’m really looking forward to serving NASAO in this capacity," said Stevens. "State aviation has played a very large part in my life and to be able to contribute to the association and its members in this manner is very fulfilling."

For five years now, Stevens has published the State Aviation Journal, an online magazine and weekly brief which focuses on state aviation. He will remain as publisher but will turn the day to day operations over to others including his son Andrew. "He [Andrew] understands the business and has been a tremendous help to me over the years," said Stevens. "I truly believe that there will be a seamless transition." Stevens said that Journal readers and advertisers will continue to see a quality publication and remains excited about the publication’s future.
