The Airventure Cup Race (www.airventurecuprace.com) has announced that they are looking for sponsorship opportunities for the 2012 race, scheduled to take place on Sunday, July 22. Sponsorships are available to anyone wanting to support the race and will provide companies visibility within the aviation community.
Last month, race organizers decided to partner with the Sport Air Racing League (SARL) (www.sportairrace.org) after learning that EAA no longer wished to be associated with the race. Race organizers are now seeking sponsorships to help support this year’s race.
Kandi Spangler, spokesperson for the Airventure Cup Race said that they are extremely grateful to SARL for coming to the rescue and helping them continue the Airventure Cup Race in 2012. She said their staff and racers are looking forward to making 2012 one of the best races in their 14 year history.
This, of course, would not be possible without sponsors and according to Spangler, is why they are actively looking for companies and individuals who want to support the race.
The race will start in Mitchell, SD (KMHE) and end in West Bend, WI (KETB) with several checkpoints in between totaling nearly 500 miles. Cross country air racing has a long history in the U.S., starting in the early 1920s, and has been credited with many advances in aviation technology, speed and reliability of engines. The organization’s goal is to combine aviation history with innovation, new technologies and individual craftsmanship into one high-octane, fun-filled race that participants and spectators alike will enjoy.
