High Flying Hangars has signed the lease agreement for the development of a new hangar project at the Manassas Regional Airport (KHEF) in Prince William County, Virginia, with the execution of the agreement received today. The signing triggers the engineering and architecture permitting to commence.

This milestone marks the kickoff to the heart of the development project at KHEF, where aircraft owners have faced a daunting wait list of up to three years—and no relief to be found at other airports in the region.

Kenny Hinkes, founder and CEO of High Flying Hangars celebrated the completion of the next step in the process of bringing high-end hangars to the Manassas-based aircraft owner seeking better shelter. “Manassas is a very important GA airfield,” said Hinkes. “It’s right under the Dulles Class B airspace, and it provides significant resources to the city.”

Highlighting key features offered with the new, upscale construction, Lisa deFrees, senior vice president of sales and marketing for High Flying Hangars, said, “There’s no shortage of demand for hangars at Manassas, and we’re thrilled to be able to provide owners with what they desire, while including amenities that greatly improve the hangar ownership experience, such as full insulation, heating, private restrooms, and premium power doors.”

Warner Construction has secured the award to act as general contractor on both the High Flying Hangars developments at Manassas, and Frederick Municipal Airport (KFDK), in Frederick, Maryland, 42 nm to the north. Randy Sibold, president of Warner Construction, is looking forward to executing on the projects in each of these premium locations. “We are so excited about the recent lease signing at the Manassas project. We are thankful to build our relationship with High Flying Hangars, because they are great people to work with. We’re pleased to be a critical part of their model.”

SEI (Smolen, EMR, Ilokovitch) Architects will lead the execution of the design plan, which can be viewed on the High Flying Hangars website. Hangars are available in two sizes: 2,000 sq ft (50 ft by 40 ft), and 3,600 sq ft (60 ft by 60 ft) and feature Diamond Bi-Fold Doors with a clear opening that varies with hangar dimensions, and Smart Door technology for the ultimate in security. Initial reservations can be made on the site for prospective owners, though more than half of the units have been spoken for as of press time.
