Washington Aviation Division and WSAA to Host Aviation Awareness Day

On January 14, 2020, between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., WSDOT Aviation Division in coordination with the Washington State Aviation Alliance (WSAA) will host Aviation Awareness Day intended to inform legislators, legislative, committee staffs, the governor’s staff, and aviation enthusiasts regarding emerging aviation technologies coming to Washington State.

This is a unique time in aviation history as electric aircraft, urban air mobility, and drone technologies have the potential of reshaping how we travel by air, impacting where we live and providing economic opportunities to more communities across the state.  Airports continue to fill a vital role as aircraft of all types land and depart with passengers and goods aboard. Thus, the aviation alliance will highlight the need to fully fund and maintain airport infrastructure as we look to the future of our airports.

The event will be located in the John A. Cherberg Building – Rooms A, B, and C.

Aviation Awareness Day will be staffed with industry and public-sector representatives and subject matter experts providing a look at the future on everything from aerial law enforcement to the use of electric aircraft. Our partners this year include magniX, AiRXOS (GE Aviation), UPS, AeroTEC, Clover Park Technical College, Washington State Patrol, the WSDOT Environmental Services Office, Teen Flight, Port of Skagit, and the Washington State Aviation Alliance.

This event is open to the public. Please contact Eric Johnson, JohnsEL@wsdot.wa.gov, (360) 848-7115 for more information.
