TDOT Aeronautics has announced the appointment of Mr. Wayne Overman to the Tennessee Aeronautics Commission.
The Tennessee Aeronautics Commission (TAC) is a governor appointed five-member advisory board to the Commissioner of the Department of Transportation who are assigned the duties of assisting in the formulation of relevant policy planning and approving/disapproving all proposed changes in the state airport system plan, existing under the authority of Tennessee Code Annotated 42-2-301.
Mr. Overman brings a wealth of aviation and engineering experience to the Aeronautics Commission. A longtime resident of middle Tennessee, he is licensed pilot and professional engineer. Over the last 44 years Mr. Overman has managed projects at 10 general aviation airports in Tennessee plus large multi-year construction programs at Nashville International, Memphis International, and Tri-Cities Regional Airports. In addition to airports in Tennessee, he has managed multi-million-dollar programs for airports across the nation and internationally. He has a reputation for completing complex projects with very tight time and budget constraints. Projects under his control have received numerous excellence awards. Over his 44-year history, he has been personally responsible for five new air carrier runways, four new air carrier terminals, two completely new air carrier airports and dozens of terminal and civil renovation projects.
Mr. Overman has served as the President/CEO at DTKJ Associates, COO / Executive Vice President of Berger Group Holdings, a 6000-person international engineering company with offices on 5 continents, President of PBS&J International, an international start-up operation for the PBSJ Corporation primarily focused on Middle Eastern countries, COO / Executive Vice President of PBS&J, a 4000-person design and program management firm. He also held the positions of National Director of Aviation and Deputy Director of Surface Transportation.
Over the years he has served as a member on two non-profit and six for-profit boards, both domestic and internationally, including SEC regulated companies, holding positions as Board Chair and Committee Chair on multiple occasions.
