PVD Becomes Base of Operations for Breeze Airways

Rhode Island Airport Corporation (RIAC) officials were recently joined by Governor Dan McKee, Breeze AirwaysTM Chief Operations Officer, Mike Wuerger, and other federal, state, and local officials to celebrate Breeze Airways inaugural day as a base of operations at PVD. Breeze Airways has completed its initial hiring to support its newest base and expects to expand to as many as 250 full- time jobs, including pilots, flight crews, support staff, and maintenance personnel to sustain up to a total of 20 nonstop routes.

“There have been many exciting developments for our airport in recent weeks,” penned Iftikhar Ahmad, President and CEO of the Rhode Island Airport Corporation. “Breeze Airways began offering the first regularly scheduled West Coast service in our airport’s history and also established a base of operations at Rhode Island T. F. Green International Airport creating new jobs and new connections for our state.”

Breeze’s PVD-based aircraft are flying two new routes to Cincinnati and Columbus, Ohio. Each aircraft begins and ends its daily operations at PVD. On May 17, 2023, Breeze Airways also launched a new nonstop service twice a week to Los Angeles, California. Breeze Airways also recently announced new nonstop service to popular Florida destinations, including Fort Myers, Orlando, Sarasota, and Tampa, for a full dozen nonstop routes from PVD. We look forward to future announcements that will provide exciting opportunities for Rhode Islanders, as well as added tourism for travelers coming to Rhode Island!
