The National Aviation Hall of Fame (NAHF) announced that the International Society of Transportation Aircraft Trading Foundation (ISTAT) awarded the NAHF with a grant in support of their 2022 Wings of Women (WOW) event.
The ISTAT Foundation annually supports non-profit organizations as part of their effort to raise awareness of aviation careers, provide dedicated education, and preserve aviation history. ISTAT grants are heavily focused on building the future of aviation.
This year’s gift to the NAHF provides funding for the Wings of Women event to be held at the National Aviation Hall of Fame and the National Museum of the United States Air Force on September 25th, 2022.
“We are thrilled to be holding our 2022 WOW event in partnership with our friends from the Huffman Praire Chapter and the Wright Chapter of Women in Aviation, International”, said Amy Spowart, President and CEO of the NAHF. “Our combined goal is to host at least 500 girls and their families. Attendees will be able to hear from NAHF Enshrinee and former NASA Astronaut Eileen Collins, meet former USAF Thunderbrd pilot Caroline “Blaze” Jensen, engage with aviation filmmaker Kara White, and speak with WASP historian and author Erin Miller.”
WOW, is an annual mentorship program that offers young women ages 8 to 17 the opportunity to greet and interact with many successful women in the aviation and aerospace fields. The program seeks to provide hands-on activities, career inquiry, creativity through fun and engaging interactions. Each participant walks away from WOW with the inspiration to see themselves in the aviation and aerospace fields, and with the resources to achieve such dreams.
