N.C. Drone Summit Returning to Greensboro in August

Greensboro will again be the center of the drone world as the N.C. Department of Transportation’s NC Drone Summit and Flight Expo (NC Drone SAFE) returns to the Piedmont Triad this summer.

The three-day summit will be held at the Grandover Resort and Conference Center in Greensboro from Aug. 11-13 and feature speakers, exhibitors and flight demonstrators from around the world that showcase the present and future of the Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS, or drone) industry.

More than 400 people attended the first event in 2018, and this year’s summit aims to be even bigger.

“Last year’s summit was a great launching point for connecting the drone industry, business and government in our state,” said Bobby Walston, director of Aviation for the NCDOT. “Now we are striving to take it to the next level, with more attendees, a wider range of speakers, topics and demonstrators, and enhancing the overall experience for everyone.”

NCDOT’s Division of Aviation UAS Program Office is hosting the event to bring together key leaders from the research, commercial and public safety UAS communities across North Carolina and the nation.

Additional information, including registration details and an agenda, will be shared in the coming weeks at ncdronesummit.com.
