Avelo to Become RDU’s 13th Airline in May

Avelo Airlines will launch new nonstop flights in May from RDU to Tweed-New Haven Airport (HVN) in Connecticut, providing business and leisure travelers with affordable and convenient options for visiting the New England and New York regions.

“We are excited to partner with Avelo as they become RDU’s 13th airline and add a new destination to the growing list of cities we serve,” said Michael Landguth, president and CEO of the Raleigh-Durham Airport Authority. “Avelo’s choice to make RDU their only airport in North Carolina shows their investment in the Research Triangle and we welcome them to the region.”

The new route begins May 26 on Avelo’s 147-seat Boeing Next-Generation 737-700 aircraft. Flights will initially be offered five days a week and will expand to six days a week in mid-June.

Avelo Chairman and CEO Andrew Levy said, “RDU — say hello to Avelo. We are excited to offer RDU the only nonstop service to Connecticut. With our low fares and HVN’s unmatched convenience, Avelo makes getting to the Connecticut region easier than ever. We look forward to welcoming RDU to our rapidly expanding national network of popular destinations.”

Introductory one-way fares between RDU and HVN will start at $49* and are available at AveloAir.com. The one-way $49 introductory fare includes government taxes and fees. The fare must be booked by March 22, 2022. This introductory fare is available on a limited number of flights and seats. Additional fees for carry-on and checked bags, assigned seats and other optional services may apply. For full terms and conditions, please see Avelo’s Contract of Carriage.

Avelo is the second airline to announce it will begin new service at RDU this year. Icelandair entered the Raleigh-Durham market in January and is scheduled to launch nonstop flights to Reykjavik beginning in late spring.
