Asheville Regional Airport has opened a new Cell Phone Lot. This lot is located across the street from the main entrance to the terminal, on Airport Park Rd. The lot will give those picking up passengers a complimentary place to park and wait. The Airport has also expanded the Shuttle Lot in the same area.
Cell phone lots provide a location to park and wait for arriving passengers. Drivers must remain in their vehicles in the lot, and when their passenger is at the curb ready to be picked up, the passenger calls their ride to let them know they are on the front curb. Drivers may then proceed to the curb for pick-up. Use of the Cell Phone Lot is complimentary and helps keep traffic moving in front of the terminal, where curbside waiting is prohibited.
The current Shuttle Lot has also been expanded, adding approximately 70 more public parking spaces. The airport shuttle operates continuously, to and from the front curb of the terminal, and is a good option for many travelers, especially those who may not be able to carry luggage from farther distances if parked in other lots.
“Traffic at Asheville Regional Airport continues to grow, and we are committed to meeting the needs of those travelling through the airport,” stated Lew Bleiweis, A.A.E., President and CEO. “We believe these recent additions will help make flying out of AVL as convenient as possible, and also help us continue to manage the growing number of cars in our lots and on our roadways.”
