Asheville Regional Airport Celebrates Inaugural Flight to MSP on Allegiant

Asheville Regional Airport (AVL) celebrated the inaugural flight to Minneapolis/St. Paul (MSP) on Allegiant recently. MSP is Allegiant’s 16th nonstop flight option from AVL, and now operates twice weekly on Thursdays and Sundays.

“Allegiant has been an integral part of the airport and community since 2011, and has grown significantly during the past decade,” said Lew Bleiweis, A.A.E., AVL Executive Director. “They continue to add new routes and provide significant choice for low-cost nonstop flights for our region’s travelers. Allegiant also brings many visitors to our region. Minneapolis/St. Paul is a top-25 market for us, and we are excited to see this new service begin.”

The inaugural flight was celebrated at the gate with passengers booked on the flight, with refreshments, prizes and a celebratory ribbon cutting.

Allegiant now flies from AVL to these 16 cities: Austin, TX (AUS) — seasonal; Baltimore, MD (Washington D.C. area) (BWI); Boston, MA (BOS) — seasonal; Chicago, IL (MDW) — seasonal; Denver, Colorado (DEN) — seasonal; Destin, FL (VPS) — seasonal; Ft. Lauderdale, FL (FLL); Houston, TX (HOU); Las Vegas, NV (LAS); Minneapolis, MN (MSP); Newark, NJ (New York City, NY area) (EWR); Orlando (Sanford), FL (SFB); West Palm Beach (PBI), Ft. Myers/Punta Gorda, FL (PGD); Sarasota (SRQ); St. Petersburg/Clearwater, FL (PIE). Allegiant will begin service to Key West, FL (EYW) in November, its 17th destination from AVL.
