Nevada Governor Proclaims June Aviation Appreciation Month

Governor Sandoval, in recognizing the important role that aviation as a whole plays in the economy of Nevada, issued a proclamation stating June as Aviation Appreciation Month.

A recent report prepared for the Airports Council International-North America says Nevada airports are better economic drivers than those in nearly every other state in the country. Nevada was ninth on the 50-state list with an economic output of $40.5 billion and more than 314,000 jobs with an annual payroll in excess of $11.8 billion. On average that is $8.5 million per each of Nevada’s 47 airports making Nevada second only to Georgia, which is home to the world’s busiest airport in Atlanta.

The continued vitality of aviation, aerospace, aircraft manufacturing, educational institutions and aviation organizations is important to the daily functioning of our society and the aviation industry continues to play a vital role in the economic and social well being of the State of Nevada.
