operators from around the globe. In the past year, these airworthiness certifications have brought nearly 100 internationally registered aircraft to Duncan Aviation, including 14 Brazilian registered aircraft and 20 aircraft registered in the United Kingdom.
Chris VanderWeide, Duncan Aviation’s Chief Inspector of Foreign Airworthiness, has seen first-hand the demand for quality inspection and maintenance service for aircraft registered internationally. VanderWeide works directly with the civil aviation authorities to secure foreign airworthiness certificates for Duncan Aviation. “In 2011, civil aviation authorities from Mexico, Venezuela and the Cayman Islands conducted onsite audits of our facilities, resulting in new airworthiness authorizations or renewals from all three,” he says.
Duncan Aviation holds foreign return-to-service authorizations from the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), as well as the individual countries of Bermuda, Brazil, Cayman Islands, China, Mexico and Venezuela. VanderWeide says India, South Africa and Argentina will soon be added to the list. “I anticipate that our number of foreign authorizations will continue to grow as corporate aviation activity continues to expand around the world,” says VanderWeide.
