When accepting the $4,000 scholarship, Ms. Cummings said, “Last summer I served an internship in the operations department at Massport and it opened my eyes to all the possibilities within aviation. It’s incredible how many people it takes working together to create a functioning airport. I hope to stay a lifetime learner and I am so grateful for the scholarship which will be used to help fund my degree in Aviation Management at Bridgewater State University.”

Scholarship Committee Co-Chair, Andy Widor, spoke of Crocker Snow, the Massachusetts aviation pioneer for whom the award is named, “Fresh out of Harvard in 1926, Crocker had already established one of the region’s first FBOs at what would become Logan Airport. In 1939, he was appointed the first Director of the Massachusetts Airport Commission, a position he held until his retirement in the late 1970s. Over the years, he was responsible for many successful recommendations regarding airport and air traffic improvements throughout the country and worldwide.” Widor concluded, “Ms. Cummings reflects a passion for airport management and solid career goals as she follows in the footsteps of Crocker Snow.”

The Massachusetts Airport Management Association (MAMA) is a non-profit membership-based trade organization that promotes the economic and educational benefits of the aviation industry and provides scholarship support to aviation management students.
