Crocker Snow’s Influence

Crocker Snow

The scholarship program is named in honor of Massachusetts’ aviation pioneer Crocker Snow, who served as the first director of the Massachusetts Aeronautics Commission beginning in 1939, a position he held until the late 1970’s.

An aviation enthusiast since childhood, Snow had already soloed and established the first fixed base operation at Boston Municipal Airport by the time he graduated from Harvard University in 1929. Later, he developed many innovative airport and flight operational procedures used nationally and served several terms on the Board of the National Aeronautics Association (NAA), the Board of the National Aeronautics Association (NAA) and as president of the National Association of State Aviation Officials (NASAO).

Now celebrating its 50th anniversary, the Massachusetts Airport Management Association is a member-based organization dedicated to promoting and advocating for a healthy Massachusetts aviation industry through its thirty-five public use airports. Members include airport managers, consultants, and service providers.
