Optical Scientific Inc. (OSI) has announced a lower cost solution for those airports and heliports priced out of the AWOS marketplace.
The OSI AWOS AV has all of the FAA certified sensors to meet the requirements for IFR and GPS approaches while remaining under $100,000 USD! The AWOS AV includes Wind Speed / Direction, Wind Gusts, Temperature and Relative Humidity, Dual Digital Pressures sensor for certified altimeter reading, Density Altitude, and FAA Visibility measurements. The OSI AWOS also includes graphic computer display, and VHF radio transmitter. Optional items include internet connectivity as well as present weather (precipitation) & cloud height sensor (ceilometer).
OSI has more than 110 AWOS installed in the United States with more overseas. “With competitive product now running $200,000 USD or more, this according to Donn Williams, Vice President of OSI, a buyer should take a hard look at the OSI alternative solution.”
