Iowa DOT Seeks Public Comment on Aviation System Plan

The Iowa Department of Transportation is seeking public input as they finalize the Iowa Aviation System Plan. This plan helps the Iowa DOT and Iowa Transportation Commission with planning and funding decisions to provide a strong, safe, and competitive air transportation system in Iowa.

The DOT says that public input is a key part of the plan update. They’ve been talking to stakeholders and others during the planning process and are now ready to refine the final draft.

Information on the system plan development is available at iowadot.gov/aviation/ and a copy of the draft Plan can be reviewed there. The public comment period is open now through Friday, July 16. Also on the draft plan website, you can find a link to a live webinar on Thursday, July 1, at 1 p.m. where an overview of the plan will be provided.

Once the public comment period concludes, any feedback will be considered and incorporated into the plan. The plan will then be presented to the Iowa Transportation Commission prior to its final publication.

Any comments, questions, feedback, or input can be submitted by contacting the Modal Transportation Bureau – Aviation, Iowa Department of Transportation, 800 Lincoln Way, Ames, Iowa 50010, telephone 515-239-1048, email Shane.Wright@iowadot.us.
