Steven Baldwin Associates has announced the appointment of Brian Mulcahy, A.A.E., CPA., as Assistant Executive Director at the Des Moines International Airport (DSM) in Des Moines, Iowa, The Airport is owned and operated by the Des Moines Airport Authority.
Mr. Mulcahy serves as the Airport’s Director of Finance and Administration. Before his work with DSM, Brian held the positions of Financial Manager for Affiliated Computer Services, Vice President of Premium Accounting for Marsh, Inc, Group Leader for Wellmark Blue Cross & Blue Shield and has obtained the distinguished rank of Colonial with the U.S. Army Reserve.
Mr. Mulcahy is an industry professional with over 10 years of airport executive leadership experience and has extensive financial and administrative expertise in airport management, team building, strategic planning, and operations. He has a B.A. in Accounting from Iowa State University, an M.B.A., and is a licensed Certified Public Accountant. He is also an Accredited Airport Executive (A.A.E.), an instrument-rated U.S. Army Aviator and a trained U.S. Department of Defense Six Sigma Black Belt.
Mr. Mulcahy manages a combined operating and capital budget of approximately $50 million and is responsible for all financial and administrative functions of the Airport including oversight of human resources. He negotiates and administers airline use agreements, including setting rates and charges which have grown from $28 million in 2012 to $96 million currently. Brian is responsible for driving key revenue streams for the Authority, resulting in income growth of 26% from 2016 to 2019 and a much-improved passenger experience. He plays a key role in representing the Authority, helping raise over $28 million of pledges for the new terminal construction.
