This coming February, the Idaho Transportation Department’s Division of Aeronautics will have spent a year in their new facility at the Boise Airport.
The Division’s move was the first step in the Boise Airport’s long term expansion plan, and as a result the City of Boise built the new facility. “Our old office and hangar location will be demolished to make way for the airport to move the employee and rental car parking,” noted Jeff Marker, Administrator for the Division. “That move then opens space for development of a new concourse.”
The new $4.7M facility, which has a hangar twice the size of the previous building, will cost the state $1 per year until 2025, at which point they will begin paying a set rent until 2035. The rent then will go to market rates. In addition, the new facility is a green building.
