Idaho Announces 2026 Aviation Art Contest Winners

The Idaho Division of Aeronautics announced the winners of the 2026 Aviation Art Contest in Idaho. The annual contest is an opportunity for Idaho students from ages 5-18 to exhibit their Artist’s View of Aviation. The theme was Around the World in a Plane.

The first-place artist in each category will get an airplane ride, a copy of their artwork signed by Governor Brad Little, and a congratulatory letter. The second-place artist in each category will receive $25 in art supplies and a congratulatory letter.

Idaho Division of Aeronautics maintains over 30 backcountry airstrips, manages aircraft registrations and renewals, and promotes aviation safety in Idaho.

Kim Stevens is the publisher of State Aviation Journal, which he founded in 2009. A longtime commercial-rated pilot, he was introduced to state aviation in 1992 as Director of the Nebraska Department of Aeronautics, later serving as Deputy Division Director for the Arizona Department of Transportation's Aeronautics Division. From 2013 to 2018, he was Director of Communications and Operations for the National Association of State Aviation Officials (NASAO) in Washington, D.C. Relocating to North Carolina, Kim worked for the Raleigh-Durham International Airport for two years and now concentrates solely on the Journal. Prior to his aviation career, Kim spent a decade in the newspaper and magazine business.
