Florida DOT Approves SSI to Release 4 Additional Airport Security Courses

Safety & Security Instruction, an industry leading training company based in Tucson, AZ, has announced the availability of six online courses for Florida airports, which include : Escort Procedures, SIDA Training, Challenge Procedures, Badging Practices, General Aviation Security and Basic Security Awareness.

Under the Florida Department of Transportation-approved training program, SSI provides free access to web-based courses which are interactive & engaging while meeting TSA, DOT, and FAA regulatory requirements. The online portal tracks and records every training event which provides auditable electronic records with management reporting to Florida airports.

“It’s very easy to get started.” reported Chris Pheasant, SSI’s Director of Security Programs. “Florida Airport Training Coordinators attend a 30-minute orientation webinar which familiarizes them with the system, demonstrates how to enroll their staff and tenants as well as explains the recordkeeping features.  SSi is holding weekly meetings so that all airports have a chance to attend“.

Interested Florida airports should contact Fred Karuga, FDOT at 850.414.4512 or Fred.Karuga@dot.state.fl.us to designate an Airport Training Coordinator.
