Fort Lauderdale, Florida, March 22, 2012 — Seasoned airline veteran Eric Christensen was named Regional Vice-President of Marketing for Embraer’s Commercial Aviation division in North America, joining the company from SkyWest Inc., parent company to SkyWest Airlines and ExpressJet Airlines.
In his new role, Christensen will oversee all activities related to marketing Embraer’s successful E-Jets platform in this market, leading the Fort Lauderdale, Florida-based sales engineering and marketing teams.
"Eric is a seasoned regional airline executive who brings unique skills and perspective from his experience with the airlines," said Charlie Hillis, Vice-President of Sales and Marketing for Commercial Aviation, North America. "He was part of the management team that successfully built SkyWest into the airline it is today. We are very fortunate to have someone of his experience join our team."
Christensen held various leadership positions at SkyWest Airlines during a 26-year career, including vice-president of planning. As a member of the executive management team, he helped grow the airline from 24 aircraft to the largest regional airline group in the world with over $4 billion in annual revenues. He oversaw aircraft acquisitions and managed one of the world’s largest jet fleets of over 700 aircraft as a specialist in aircraft economics.
Christensen graduated with a BA in Accounting from Utah State University where he also earned a Masters of Business Administration. In addition to being a Certified Public Accountant, he is also an experienced commercial pilot with an instrument rating.
