The Airplane Factory USA Welcomes Barry Jay to Team

The Airplane Factory USA has announced that Barry Jay has joined the Torrance, California team as North American Sales and Marketing Manager. Jay will be responsible for all marketing communications and sales of the Sling LSA, Sling 2 and Sling 4 kit aircraft and will work closely with Matt Liknaitzky and Jean D’Assonville in support of company dealers in their sales and marketing efforts.

Jay brings decades of experience in the general aviation and automotive industries including expertise that ranges from sales of new Piper and Mooney aircraft to managing Lexus national advertising, Toyota experiential marketing and Toyota’s aviation business development department.  In addition, his understanding of how to grow markets and exceed customer expectations comes from stints in Lexus customer service & dealer education as well as Toyota dealer planning.

A private pilot with over 900 hours, Jay has been a member of the Sling Flying Club for more than four years and has been a strong promoter of The Airplane Factory brand.  As an FAA Safety Team Representative, Jay has been conducting aviation safety seminars for over 20 years and was recently reelected to the post of President of the Torrance Airport Association for a twelfth term.

Kim Stevens

Kim Stevens is the publisher of State Aviation Journal, which he founded in 2009. A longtime commercial-rated pilot, he was introduced to state aviation in 1992 as Director of the Nebraska Department of Aeronautics, later serving as Deputy Division Director for the Arizona Department of Transportation's Aeronautics Division. From 2013 to 2018, he was Director of Communications and Operations for the National Association of State Aviation Officials (NASAO) in Washington, D.C. Relocating to North Carolina, Kim worked for the Raleigh-Durham International Airport for two years and now concentrates solely on the Journal. Prior to his aviation career, Kim spent a decade in the newspaper and magazine business.
