Board of Airport Commissioners Approves $40 Million Development for New Fixed Base Operator at Van Nuys Airport

The Board of Airport Commissioners voted to reinstate fixed base operations on the north side of the airfield paves the way for a 30-year lease $40 million improvement project at Van Nuys Airport (VNY).

Jet Aviation in partnership with Gulfstream Aerospace will provide new hangars, executive terminals, maintenance and fueling facilities. “Today’s action by the Board of Airport Commissioners reaffirms our commitment to develop VNY in a way that provides assured economic benefits for the airport, Van Nuys and the San Fernando Valley,” said Board of Airport Commission President Sean Burton. “VNY is an important component of the region’s economic makeup, annually contributing $1.3 billion to the Southern California economy.

Jet Aviation’s partnership with Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation will create over 200 new jobs and will have an estimated $89 million economic impact to the local economy over the term of the lease.”

“Van Nuys airport is one of the busiest general aviation hubs in the country,” said Los Angeles World Airports Executive Director Deborah Flint. “While this new fixed base operator will provide additional convenience, service and important economic benefits, our communicating with and building positive working relationships with the communities that surround Van Nuys airport is important. We are mindful of the needs of airport users and our neighbors.”
