Yuma International Airport Becomes GoodMaps’ First Scan & Go Airport, Pioneering Self-Service Navigation for Regional Airports

Yuma International Airport (YUM) has launched GoodMaps’ comprehensive indoor navigation platform, becoming the first airport to implement GoodMaps’ Scan & Go technology. This milestone demonstrates how regional airports can independently deliver world-class, accessible passenger experiences using mobile navigation and interactive, multilingual terminal maps accessible through any web browser.

Through Scan & Go, YUM staff used smartphones to create professional-grade digital maps without external surveyors, eliminating traditional cost and scheduling barriers that often limit accessibility solutions at smaller airports.

“As GoodMaps’ first Scan & Go airport, we’re showing that regional airports can lead in innovation and accessibility,” said Gladys Brown, Airport Director at Yuma International Airport. “This technology allows us to maintain full control over implementation, timelines, and costs while delivering an exceptional passenger experience.”

The platform supports audio navigation for blind and low-vision travelers, accessible routing for mobility device users, visual guidance for deaf and hard-of-hearing passengers, and clear directions in more than 18 languages. Maps are available via mobile devices and web browsers with no app download required, and updates can be managed in real time by airport staff.

YUM’s implementation establishes a scalable model for regional airports nationwide, proving that advanced accessibility and navigation technology is achievable without complex infrastructure, lengthy procurement processes, or high costs.

The GoodMaps app is free to download on iOS and Android.
