The City of Safford has announced a new partnership with Grand Canyon Airlines to offer air service between Safford and Phoenix. This collaboration will provide a more efficient travel option for both residents and visitors, enhancing connectivity and access to the Phoenix metropolitan area.
“We are thrilled to partner with Grand Canyon Airlines to offer more travel options to our community,” said Cameron Atkins, Safford Regional Airport Manager. “This air service will not only enhance accessibility to Phoenix but will also contribute to strengthening our local economy by connecting our residents to opportunities in business, healthcare, and tourism.”
This service is enabled by grants through the Department of Transportation’s Small Community Air Service Development Program (SCASDP) and the Freeport McMoRan Community Investment Fund. The City of Safford is excited to partner with these agencies to bring scheduled airline service back to Safford for the first time since 1974.
Safford City Manager, John Cassella, stated “The City of Safford remains committed to improving infrastructure and services that benefit residents and foster regional growth and prosperity.”
Flights began on January 6th and will operate twice daily, with one morning round trip and one evening round trip, enabling passengers to travel to Phoenix.
