AzAA Announces 2010 Airport Executive of the Year

The Arizona Airports Association is proud to announce that it has named Ms. Brenda Chastain, Director of Corporate Administration at Kingman Airport Authority, 2010 Airport Executive of the Year.

The award recognizes an individual who has a broad and deep knowledge of aviation, has made proven contributions to airport facilities, is well respected within the industry and community, and has mentored other individuals.

Brenda Chastain worked for the Mohave County Airport Authority from 1985 to 1992, and is now with the Kingman Airport Authority. While with the Mohave County Airport Authority, Brenda was responsible for both Kingman and Bullhead City Airports. Brenda facilitated the construction of the main runway at Bullhead City Airport, the transfer of ownership of the Kingman Airport and Industrial Park from Mohave County to the City of Kingman, and the reorganization of the original corporation into the Kingman Airport Authority, Inc., with the Mohave County Airport Authority remaining in Bullhead City.         (Chastain, receives award from Mike Hill, Sundt Construction)

Over the past year Brenda coordinated the design and reconstruction of an 110,000 SY aircraft ramp that was funded by $5.1 million in ARRA Stimulus Funds and the design and construction of an FAR Part 139 airfield signage upgrade project. In addition, she oversaw the design of an $8.5 million airport passenger terminal.

The terminal is architecturally tied to a $2.5 million Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) Station/Administration Building that was dedicated in 2008. Brenda’s hard work resulted in the funding, design, and construction of this ARFF Station.

Brenda is an active member of AZAA and a Past President (1993-94). As a community volunteer, she spent ten years assisting the Mohave County Victim/Witness Program and over 15 years working with Mohave County Elections to proctor results on election nights.
