Alaska Governor Proclaims September Aviation Appreciation Month

GovGroupAGCedit.jpg Alaska Governor Bill Walker has proclaimed September 2015 as Aviation Appreciation Month. He took advantage of a large gathering this week of aviation stakeholders to present the proclamation to Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) Commissioner Marc Luiken. The proclamation states that Alaska has more private planes per capita than any other state in the union and that on average Alaskans fly more than eight times as often as residents of other states. The Governor noted that aviation plays a critical role in everyday life of Alaska’s people and economy. Alaska currently has 737 airports and seaplane bases, 9,347 registered aircraft and 8,032 active pilots.
