TSA's Delauter Stepping Down - State Aviation Journal

Brian Delauter, will be stepping down from his post as general manager for the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) Office of General Aviation effective May 23. Delauter, who has taken a position in the private sector, has held the TSA post since July of 2009.

The selection of Delauter, a pilot and someone very familiar with general aviation, was applauded by general aviation groups as someone who could use his background to ease the strain between the general aviation community and the TSA.

During his tenure, he oversaw efforts to rework the controversial Large Aircraft Security Program proposal and worked with GA advocates and the Customs and Border Protection to streamline the process for pilots flying internationally. The TSA has not yet announced who will succeed Delauter.

Kim Stevens is the publisher of State Aviation Journal, which he founded in 2009. A longtime commercial-rated pilot, he was introduced to state aviation in 1992 as Director of the Nebraska Department of Aeronautics, later serving as Deputy Division Director for the Arizona Department of Transportation's Aeronautics Division. From 2013 to 2018, he was Director of Communications and Operations for the National Association of State Aviation Officials (NASAO) in Washington, D.C. Relocating to North Carolina, Kim worked for the Raleigh-Durham International Airport for two years and now concentrates solely on the Journal. Prior to his aviation career, Kim spent a decade in the newspaper and magazine business.
