State Aviation Journal to Sponsor State Aviation Newsletter Award

The State Aviation Journal in coordination with the National Association of State Aviation Officials (NASAO) will be sponsoring an annual state aviation newsletter award in an effort to recognize the fine work that state aviation offices do throughout the country in creating, writing and distributing newsletters to their customers.

The award, which will be independently judged by a panel of experienced journalists, will be presented each year at the NASAO Annual Conference and Tradeshow. "State aviation employees do an incredible job communicating to their customers through newsletters," said Kim Stevens(shown at right), publisher of the State Aviation Journal. "The newsletter, whether it is monthly, quarterly, printed or electronic, is a valuable tool in the hands of these folks  as they promote aviation and the great work that they do in their respective states."

The criteria used by the judges  will include, overall design, quality and accuracy of content, depth of reporting, use of graphics and photography, creativity and the use of social media either in the distribution or marketing of their newsletter.

Recognition, including a plaque and or trophy, will be given to the top newsletter, print or electronic, published by a state aviation office.  The deadline for all submitted material is July 30th. Each state submitting printed newsletters must send four copies of the last three issues published to the State Aviation Journal at 9866 West Lone Cactus Drive, Peoria, Arizona 85382. Electronic submittals can be emailed to kim@stateaviationjournal.com.  Please attach a copy of the last three issues posted or provide a direct link to where each issue can be found.

"I know first hand how much work is involved in producing a newsletter," said Stevens. "I’ve seen many excellent examples from states throughout the country. I’m looking forward to the opportunity to honor and showcase the best example each year."
