The Airport Consultants Council (ACC) announced the selection of Amy Hanson, Environmental Protection Specialist with the FAA Chicago Airports District Office, as the recipient of the 2016 ACC Agency Best Practices Award. Hanson was specifically recognized for her leadership and role in successfully delivering the Chicago Modernization Plan Environmental Assessment Re-Evaluation.
The purpose of the ACC Agency Best Practices Award is to draw attention to government agency individuals who exemplify teamwork, demonstrate their understanding of effective stakeholder interface, and exhibit an ability to be flexible and innovative. The award was presented during the ACC Airports Technical Workshop Awards Luncheon on Wednesday, August 10, 2016.
The Chicago Modernization Plan Environmental Assessment re-evaluation project drew the attention and scrutiny of multiple interest groups and required the organization of a diverse team of specialists. During this process, she successfully mobilized and motivated the team to work together, share information, and respect the scheduling and technical requirements of others. Hanson’s leadership inspired team members to put forth their best possible efforts. Her remarkable problem-solving skills were a perfect embodiment of ACC’s mission to accomplish excellence in airport development.
Hanson has been working at the FAA Chicago Airports District Office since June 2003, where she has worked on the O’Hare Modernization Program Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) along with the 2015 Re-Evaluation of the O’Hare Modernization EIS. Prior to working at the FAA, Hanson worked at Landrum & Brown and Manhard Consulting. She studied Environmental Science at St. Norbert College and Carroll University, where she received her Bachelor of Science.
“We are quite excited to recognize Amy with this distinguished award,” said 2016 ACC Board Chair Don Bergin, vice president of Blast Deflectors, Inc. “Amy continues to leave an indelible mark on the airport industry, and the membership of ACC appreciates and celebrates the spirit of cooperation and teamwork that Amy embodies.”
