Larry Taborsky, director of the North Dakota Aeronautics Commission reported that 84,000 people boarded planes at the state’s eight commercial and regional airports last month.
Taborsky said airports at Bismarck, Dickinson and Williston had all-time record boardings in May while Grand Forks and Minot set boarding records for the month.
More than 10,800 travelers boarded planes at Grand Forks International Airport which was a 22 percent increase from May 2011. Fargo’s Hector International Airport saw more than 29,700 boardings in May, an increase of 12 percent. The biggest bump was at Minot’s airport, which saw nearly 18,400 boardings, an increase of 57 percent.
Six of the eight airports saw increases over the year. Devils Lake and Jamestown were the only airports that had a decrease from 2011.
