ENTERPRISE RENT-A-CAR SPONSORS AOPA AIRPORTS DIRECTORY

Enterprise Rent-A-Car, an Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA) strategic partner, is now the sponsor of AOPA Airports, an up-to-date directory of public-use airports and fixed-base operators (FBOs) across the United States.

As the directory’s sponsor, Enterprise will offer AOPA members a discount on its everyday low rental rates and the opportunity to reserve rental cars directly through a link on the online edition of AOPA Airports (aopa.org/airports).

Enterprise provides service and, at most locations, vehicle delivery to more than 3,000 general aviation facilities nationwide. The “Book Now” link located on the AOPA Airports page will allow members to book a vehicle with the AOPA member discount. Members using the Enterprise toll-free phone number listed in AOPA Airports will also receive a discount. AOPA members just need to provide their member number at the time of reservation in order to receive the discount.

“This is a terrific new service that will allow general aviation pilots to plan their flights beyond arrival at the airport,” said Ed Thompson, AOPA vice president of corporate partnerships and products.  “AOPA Airports online provides all the destination information our members need, including current weather. Now it will even allow them to easily reserve an Enterprise rental car at a discount.”

Enterprise and AOPA entered into a strategic partnership in September 2012. Enterprise founder Jack Taylor has strong ties to aviation as a decorated Navy fighter pilot during World War II. As a result of that experience, he named his family-owned business after the USS Enterprise, one of the aircraft carriers upon which he served.

The AOPA Airports directory, available online and in print, offers nearly 400,000 AOPA members detailed information on more than 5,000 public use airports, seaplane bases and heliports. It lists 7,000 FBOs and airport businesses, as well as airport diagrams with runway dimensions, taxiways, ramp areas, displaced thresholds and buildings. It also includes radio frequencies and telephone numbers, 31,000 restaurant and lodging listings and 12,000 local attractions. In addition, the directory’s print edition lists international landing facilities, customs border protection information and entry requirements for Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean.

Since 1939 AOPA has protected the freedom to fly for thousands of aviators and aircraft owners. From its headquarters in Frederick Md., offices in Washington, D.C. and nine regions of the U.S., its representatives interact with local, state and federal elected officials and government representatives to ensure the safe and steady growth of general aviation. AOPA offers members a variety services, including flight planning products, safety seminars and studies and publications, as well as insurance, legal, aircraft financing and title services.
