NASAO, FAA Continue MOU Commitments - State Aviation Journal

Michelle McEnany, 2009 Chair for the National Association of State Aviation Officials signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the FAA and NASAO on March 31, 2009. Pictured with Ms. McEnany and signing on behalf of the FAA is Chris Blum, Central Region Administrator.

The first MOU between the two organizations was signed in 1996 between NASAO Chairman Gary Adams and FAA Administrator David Hinson. The 2009 Initiatives are; Sharing of Data for Evaluation of Objects Affecting Navigable Airspace and Aviation & Space Education Outreach.

Ms. McEnany also presented Chris Blum (pictured right) a retirement gift on behalf of the association for his years of service and dedication to NASAO. The Central Region Administrator will be retiring in May of this year. Chair McEnany is also the director of the Office of Aviation for the Iowa Department of Transportation and has served in that capacity since May of 2000.

Kim Stevens

Kim Stevens is the publisher of State Aviation Journal, which he founded in 2009. A longtime commercial-rated pilot, he was introduced to state aviation in 1992 as Director of the Nebraska Department of Aeronautics, later serving as Deputy Division Director for the Arizona Department of Transportation's Aeronautics Division. From 2013 to 2018, he was Director of Communications and Operations for the National Association of State Aviation Officials (NASAO) in Washington, D.C. Relocating to North Carolina, Kim worked for the Raleigh-Durham International Airport for two years and now concentrates solely on the Journal. Prior to his aviation career, Kim spent a decade in the newspaper and magazine business.
