HAL BRYAN PROMOTED TO SENIOR EDITOR FOR EAA PUBLICATIONS

Bryan_Hal 2015edit.jpg Hal Bryan, an experienced pilot who created and built much of the Experimental Aircraft Association’s social media and online community presence, has been promoted to Senior Editor of EAA Publications.

In his new role, Bryan will use his extensive aviation knowledge to tell the stories of EAA members and the many segments of the EAA family. His writing will be featured in EAA Sport Aviation magazine beginning with the June 2015 issue, as well as in EAA’s other publications and outlets in the future.

“Hal is a great aviation storyteller, as his long experience and knowledge within the flying community give him unique insights, not only about the remarkable aircraft within the EAA family, but a superb understanding of the people who have an amazing passion for flight,” said Jim Busha, EAA’s director of publications. “In addition, his background and following within our digital communications are a real plus as the publishing world expands beyond the printed product to include digital and online formats.”

Bryan came to EAA in 2009 as the organization’s inaugural online community manager. His communications on EAA’s social media channels and with the forums community quickly became popular as a connection with EAA members and aviation enthusiasts. Bryan began to add written features for EAA’s websites and magazines in the past year.

“One thing I discovered as we developed and grew EAA’s social media and digital presence was that there are a lot of stories about airplanes and people within EAA that are waiting to be told,” said Bryan, who will assist in the transition to his successor as EAA’s social media and community manager, a position that has been posted on the association’s website. “I’m looking forward to telling those stories, whether it’s in homebuilding, vintage aircraft, warbirds, ultralights, or any of the other wonderful facets of the EAA community.”

Hal came to EAA after working as Community Evangelist and Business Development Manager with the team responsible for Microsoft’s popular Flight Simulator software. He holds a Private Pilot certificate with time in such diverse aircraft as a Quicksilver ultralight, de Havilland Tiger Moth, and a Thruxton Jackaroo. He most recently was part of the EAA employee team that built a Zenith CH 750 airplane.
