Fly Iowa 2011 to land in Newton for a day of Wings, Wheels, and Thrills

PlanesFly Iowa 2011 will land at the Newton Municipal Airport on Saturday, September 17 for a full day of excitement on the ground and in the skies over Newton. The statewide aviation fair and air show is free and is designed to expose the public to the benefits and excitement of aviation in Iowa.

The day will kick off with a public flight breakfast starting at 7:00 a.m. with the opening of Fly Iowa and a car show at 9:00 a.m. The air show will begin at 1:00 p.m. Aviation highlights throughout the day will include a B-52 flyover, P-51 Mustang performance, a full line up of aerobatic performances, skydivers, and wing walking. Many types of aircraft will be on display including military, experimental, helicopters, business, training, and agricultural aircraft. Kim Stevens

Kim Stevens is the publisher of State Aviation Journal, which he founded in 2009. A longtime commercial-rated pilot, he was introduced to state aviation in 1992 as Director of the Nebraska Department of Aeronautics, later serving as Deputy Division Director for the Arizona Department of Transportation's Aeronautics Division. From 2013 to 2018, he was Director of Communications and Operations for the National Association of State Aviation Officials (NASAO) in Washington, D.C. Relocating to North Carolina, Kim worked for the Raleigh-Durham International Airport for two years and now concentrates solely on the Journal. Prior to his aviation career, Kim spent a decade in the newspaper and magazine business.
