Air Medical Group Holdings (AMGH), a major U.S. air medical transport services provider, has contracted with Airbus Helicopters Inc. for the purchase of six H135-series helicopters with options to buy four additional aircraft. The announcement was made Tuesday in a ceremony at the Airbus Helicopters Inc. booth at the Air Medical Transport Conference under way in Long Beach.
AMGH, based in Lewisville, Texas is the largest independent provider of air medical services in the world operating through seven subsidiaries: Air Evac Lifeteam; Med-Trans Corp; Reach Air Medical Services; EagleMed; Air Med International; Lifeguard Ambulance; and the AirMedCare Network. These subsidiaries transport more than 75,000 critically ill patients each year.
“The H135 continues to be a very safe and reliable aircraft for our patient missions as well as our overall customer’s needs,” said Fred Buttrell, President and CEO of AMGH. This new order of H135 helicopters allows us to continue to grow our business, meeting the needs of our hospital partners and providing access to critical air medical services in communities throughout the country.”
“It is very gratifying that the leadership of Air Medical Group Holdings, a premier air medical transport company, has chosen to procure additional H135 series helicopters for their fleet,” said Chris Emerson, President of Airbus Helicopters Inc. and Head of the North America Region. “AMGH’s decision to add to their fleet is a strong endorsement of Airbus Helicopters and our industry-leading aircraft.”
More than 1,200 earlier versions of the H135/EC135 family are in operation globally and have accumulated a total of more than three million flight hours. The model is a worldwide favorite of air medical transport services. Previous versions can be fully retrofitted to bring them up to the technical level of the H135.
