NASAO Names Desiree Bascomb as Marketing and Communications Manager

Desiree Bascomb

The National Association of State Aviation Officials (NASAO) has announced Desiree Bascomb as the Association’s new Marketing and Communications Manager. This role is responsible for supporting the Association’s members and staff while implementing communication strategies in support of the organization’s educational offerings, government relations and advocacy work, conference promotion, publications, and social media channels.

“I am thrilled to join the NASAO team and excited for the opportunity to tell the story of state aviation agencies, their constituents, and their role in national aviation. I am looking forward to learning all that I can about the aviation industry and combining my knowledge and skills to effectively communicate our message.”

Before joining NASAO, Desiree worked at the George Washington University as a Media Relations Associate. At GW, Bascomb oversaw daily university news clips and media mentions. She also worked at Rutgers University-Newark in their Office of Communications. In this position, she managed the university’s official Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram accounts.

Kim Stevens

Kim Stevens is the publisher of State Aviation Journal, which he founded in 2009. A longtime commercial-rated pilot, he was introduced to state aviation in 1992 as Director of the Nebraska Department of Aeronautics, later serving as Deputy Division Director for the Arizona Department of Transportation's Aeronautics Division. From 2013 to 2018, he was Director of Communications and Operations for the National Association of State Aviation Officials (NASAO) in Washington, D.C. Relocating to North Carolina, Kim worked for the Raleigh-Durham International Airport for two years and now concentrates solely on the Journal. Prior to his aviation career, Kim spent a decade in the newspaper and magazine business.
