The National Association of State Aviation Officials (NASAO) on Tuesday commended congressional leaders for reintroducing the Aviation Stability Act of 2021. The bill would protect the U.S. aviation industry from the effects of future federal government shutdowns by ensuring critical funding for all Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) activities and personnel. The bill was introduced by House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Chair Peter DeFazio (D-OR), Aviation Subcommittee Chair Rick Larsen (D-WA), and Representatives Bob Gibbs (R-OH) and Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA).
“The nation’s state aviation officials strongly support this important legislation to provide financial stability to the FAA and its mission-critical programs. State aviation officials have seen first-hand how disruptive repeated budget showdowns can be to aviation safety and the nation’s airports. We commend chairs DeFazio and Larsen and Representatives Gibbs and Fitzpatrick for this bipartisan effort to protect the nation’s aviation system,” said Greg Pecoraro, NASAO President, and CEO.
