Illuminating Engineering Society Welcomes Megan Carroll as Director of Marketing and Business Development

The Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) today announced the appointment of Megan Carroll as Director of Marketing and Business Development. Carroll joins the IES team today, January 5, 2026.

In her new role, Carroll will lead IES’s marketing strategy, brand development, and business growth initiatives. She will be responsible for advancing the Society’s visibility within the lighting industry, driving manufacturer engagement, and developing strategic partnerships that support IES’s mission to advance the art and science of quality lighting.

Megan’s deep understanding of the lighting market and her relationships throughout the industry will be instrumental in expanding our reach and delivering greater value to our members.”

Carroll brings more than 30 years of lighting industry experience to IES. Most recently, she served as Regional Sales & Marketing Manager for Lighting Services Inc from 2022 to 2025. Previously, she held specification and sales leadership positions at Illuminations, Inc. and Acuity Brands, where she served as Senior Specification Sales Manager. Earlier in her career, Carroll was Director of Sales, East Coast, North America for Xicato, where she built strong relationships with designers, engineers, and industry stakeholders across the region.

Kim Stevens

Kim Stevens is the publisher of State Aviation Journal, which he founded in 2009. A longtime commercial-rated pilot, he was introduced to state aviation in 1992 as Director of the Nebraska Department of Aeronautics, later serving as Deputy Division Director for the Arizona Department of Transportation's Aeronautics Division. From 2013 to 2018, he was Director of Communications and Operations for the National Association of State Aviation Officials (NASAO) in Washington, D.C. Relocating to North Carolina, Kim worked for the Raleigh-Durham International Airport for two years and now concentrates solely on the Journal. Prior to his aviation career, Kim spent a decade in the newspaper and magazine business.
