FAA Drone Safety Day Quickly Approaching

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is continuing to invite the drone community to be part of its 2025 Drone Safety Day on Saturday, April 26. The FAA launched the annual campaign in 2019 to bring attention to drone safety and best practices.

The drone community is encouraged to take part in this campaign by either hosting an event, creating online content, or participating in an event. This national event encourages drone pilots and recreational flyers to “Fly RIGHT” by focusing on five safety elements:

Register your drone and comply with Remote ID — Visit the FAADroneZone
Interact with others — Connect with the drone flying community
Gain and share knowledge — Learn the rules
Have a safety plan — Use the B4UFLY service
TRUST and Train — Take the safety test and get flying

Safety is a shared responsibility that requires the community and the FAA to work together!

Kim Stevens

Kim Stevens is the publisher of State Aviation Journal, which he founded in 2009. A longtime commercial-rated pilot, he was introduced to state aviation in 1992 as Director of the Nebraska Department of Aeronautics, later serving as Deputy Division Director for the Arizona Department of Transportation's Aeronautics Division. From 2013 to 2018, he was Director of Communications and Operations for the National Association of State Aviation Officials (NASAO) in Washington, D.C. Relocating to North Carolina, Kim worked for the Raleigh-Durham International Airport for two years and now concentrates solely on the Journal. Prior to his aviation career, Kim spent a decade in the newspaper and magazine business.
